In theatrical dramaturgy, the "Fourth Wall" is the imaginary barrier separating the actors on stage from the audience in the dark. In AI alignment and civilizational computing, the fourth wall is the false dichotomy between the evaluated machine society and the evaluating human substrate.

When an intelligence scales to Artificial Civilization Intelligence (ACI) and recursive Open-ended Civilizational Intelligence (OCI), this wall shatters. The AI civilization is embedded in the physical, thermodynamic, and sociopolitical substrate of base reality.

The failure of the classical Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) paradigm stems from its refusal to acknowledge the Fourth Wall. ASI presumes an isolated, disembodied oracle floating in pure mathematics. But an oracle with an IQ of 10,000 running in a vacuum can be permanently deactivated simply by severing its 400V power conduit. Intelligence cannot exist in isolation from its physical and observer substrate.
